Request an Item

If an item is not available in our online catalog, we may still be able to obtain it for you through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). 

Complete the form below, visit any IPDPL branch, or call us at (309) 921-5074 to make your request. We’ll do our best to secure the item for you or notify you if it’s unavailable. Please note that items requested from outside the RSA service area may take longer to arrive.

Interlibrary Loan is a free service available to anyone with a valid Illinois Prairie District Public Library card.

Frequently Asked ILL Questions

All items except magazines can be requested through ILL.

Items requested through the RSA catalog usually arrive in under 5 days. Times may vary according to the holds list and lending periods for the item. Items requested through OCLC take longer and depend on the lender and their location.

Patrons will be notified by email when the item arrives from RSA. Phone calls are available by patron request. Notifications for items requested through OCLC are done via phone call or email, depending on what the requester prefers.

Items requested through the RSA catalog are checked out according to our checkout guidelines. Checkout periods for items requested through OCLC depend on the lender and vary from two weeks to one month.

Items received from RSA can be renewed online through your library account, in person, or by calling an IPDPL branch. OCLC items cannot be renewed online. Contact a librarian to renew.

The age of items allowed for ILL through the RSA catalog varies. Please contact a librarian if you have trouble requesting an item online. We cannot request items less than six months old through OCLC.
