IPDPL Honors Library Volunteers

“Noah’s Ark was built by Volunteers; the Titanic was built by professionals.” – unknown.  To honor individuals (Volunteers’) who have assisted the library in various functions throughout the year, the District held a banquet at the Flame Family Restaurant in Metamora on Tuesday, Nov 12th.  The following thirteen volunteers were invited as guests of honor:  Virginia Bade, Myrle & Stella Coffman, Morgan Rich, Joe Richard, Becky Haven, Jeanette Lindberg, Martha Lyons, Judith Quiram, Nichole Daugherty, Diane Geiser, Kendall Knapp, and Mary Kamp.

Board members and the staff from all six branches of Illinois Prairie District Public Library hosted the Volunteer dinner.  Entertainment was provided by Mike Anderson, “Hugo Kringle”, a folk performer and educator from Jacksonville, Illinois.  He played various instruments, including the mouth harp, mandolin and banjo.

Illinois Prairie District Public Library has greatly benefited from thousands of hours of work done over the years by library volunteers at the six branches at Benson, Germantown Hills, Metamora, Roanoke, Spring Bay and Washburn.   Director Grant Fredericksen thanked the wonderful people who continue to support the library on a regular basis.  “Volunteers are unpaid, not because they are worthless, but because they are priceless.” – unknown.
