Special Meeting of the Illinois Prairie District Public Library Board
January 24, 2012
Metamora Headquarters, Metamora, IL
A special meeting of the IPDPL Board of Trustees was held on January 24, 2012 at 3:15pm at the Metamora Headquarters in Metamora, IL. Board members present were Pugh, Weddle, and Zoss; also attending was Director Fredericksen. Absent: Rush and Ericsson. Kramer arrived at 4:00pm when Dewberry architects Rick McCarthy and Paul Kouri came to give their presentation to the Board, and Buhr arrived soon after 5:00pm.
The 3:15pm meeting was open for discussion only. Fredericksen notified the Board of a letter received from Phil Lenzini concerning PSA Dewberry, addressing some issues needing attention. Also discussed was the Roanoke account set up to pay various expenses connected with the possible building program there.
At 4:00pm McCarthy and Kouri gave their presentation of how they wish to work with and for us, following the discussions of our last meeting with them. They re-capped the mission statement we had established, and the goals we would be working towards. They outlined the concepts they promote in building a 21st century library, stressing technology, mobility, socialization, and collaboration, and how we want to find the right fit for Germantown Hills residents.
They had put together posters with photos of their architectural work reflecting exterior and interior designs, ideas, and possibilities. Then they gave each Board member 5 stickers to adhere to the photos that appealed most to them, or showed what they would most desire to see in a new library building.
In conclusion to the meeting, Fredericksen said that we would be meeting with Germantown Hills residents on Feb. 9th at 7:00pm to hear their opinions and concerns; just a time to gain input from them. Details of publicizing the event were ironed out among Board members and Dewberry.
Pugh made a motion that we adjourn at 6:00pm; Weddle seconded the motion and it passed.
