3:00pm Meeting With Kaywin Martin

On January 17, 2012 at 3:00pm, the IPDPL Board of Trustees met for a special meeting with Kaywin Martin.  Present at the meeting was Director Fredericksen, Board members Kramer, Pugh, Rush, Weddle and Zoss.  Ericsson was absent.  Visitors were Kaywin Martin and Dawn Smith.

Martin met with the Board to discuss options and possibilities in building a new library/community center building in Roanoke on donated land, with almost half of possible building costs already covered by Martin.  He believes costs for IPDPL would be approximately 15% of the total required for the building.

IPDPL Board members have already begun the planning process of constructing a new Germantown Hills library building and are fully committed to seeing it through to completion.  The current Germantown Hills library facility is not adequate for the population it currently serves.  With that commitment in view, the Board also has interest in seeing Martin's vision become reality.  The many unknowns of funding are the realities to be dealt with yet, at this point.

A library bank account has been established for covering costs associated with building a new library at Roanoke.  Pugh made a motion to pay $1,672.49 out of the account to reimburse Martin's travel costs, and pay for the surveyor fee to Ron Clusky, and a "land for free" land purchase option.  Weddle seconded the motion and it passed.

This meeting was concluded at 4:10pm.

4:15pm meeting with Paul Kouri of PSA Dewberry

On January 17, 2012 at 4:15pm, the IDPDL Board of Trustees met for a visioning meeting with Paul Kouri from PSA Dewberry.  Present at the meeting was Director Fredericksen, Board members Buhr, Kramer, Pugh, Rush, Weddle and Zoss.  Ericsson was absent.  Paul was accompanied by Cody Bornsheuer.

This meeting was to establish the first visioning discussion with the Board, prepared by coming up with a mission statement for what we as a Board believe is needed in a library for the Germantown Hills population.  Lengthy discussion on funding followed.

Kramer made a motion that we have a second visioning meeting on Tues., January 24, 2012, at 3:00pm.  Zoss seconded the motion and it passed.

Kramer moved that we adjourn the meeting at 6:37pm; Weddle seconded, and the motion carried.
