Metamora Headquarters, Metamora, IL

The Tuesday, October 11, 2011 meeting of the IPDPL Board of Trustees convened at 4:00pm at the Metamora Library Headquarters in Metamora, IL.  Those present included Director Fredericksen, trustees Buhr, Kramer, Pugh, Rush, Weddle and Zoss; also present were visitors Anna Ericsson of Metamora, John Madsen of Metamora, and Gregory K. Kerr representing Ruck Pate Architecture, from Barrington, IL.

Pugh made a motion to approve the Sept. 6, 2011 regular board meeting minutes, and also the Aug. 16, 2011 and Sept. 1, 2011 special meeting minutes.  Buhr seconded the motion and it passed.  There were no public comments.

     A.  Per capita grant:  The grant will be used to continue to pay for our paid databases; board officers signed the papers.

     B.  PLA Conference:  The next Public Library Association conference will be held in March of 2012 in Philadelphia, PA, and will cost $1,000 to send Fredericksen to attend it.  Zoss moved that we pay to send Fredericksen to the conference; Pugh seconded the motion and it passed.

     C.  Germantown Hills site:  Many different architecture firms expressing interest in the Germantown Hills site sent their Statement of Qualifications for review by the Board.  Weddle made a motion to choose APACE, PSA Dewberry, and Farnsworth to interview, having them present their RFQ's on Oct. 22, 2011.  Kramer seconded the motion and it passed.  The interviews will take place at 10:00am on Oct. 22, 2011, in an open meeting, with plans to use the American Legion building in Metamora.

     D.  Spring Bay Branch entry:  A $2,600 estimate has been given by Steve Schierer for the first phase of renovating the entryway.  Pugh made a motion, seconded by Weddle, to accept his estimate; the motion passed.

     E.  District headquarters:  The Metamora Herald office is for sale; Fredericksen has walked thru it and feels it would be a possible option for the Library's district headquarters.  Maintenance and renovation costs were discussed.  Both Phil Lenzini and Fred Schlipf would encourage pursuing this.  Pugh made a motion that we send a letter of intent for purchasing the Metamora Herald building, offering $45,000 for it, asking that the office room dividers be included, giving $1,000 in earnest money, and closing in 30 days.  Kramer seconded this motion, and it passed.

     F.  Assistant at Washburn Branch:  We have hired a new assistant at the Washburn Branch, whose name is JoAnn Jassman; she began work on Sept. 7, 2011.

Buhr moved to pay the bills and requisitions; Weddle seconded the move and it passed.  The meeting adjourned at 6:00pm.  The next regular meeting of the IPDPL will be Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at 4:00pm at the Metamora Headquarters.
