Metamora Headquarters

Metamora, Illinois


          The December 4, 2012 regular meeting of the IPDPL Board of Trustees was called to order at the Metamora Headquarters in Metamora, IL at 4:00pm.  Board trustees present were Buhr, Maurer, Pugh, Rush, Weddle, and Zoss.  Director Fredericksen was also present; Hicks was absent.  Ken Maurer was welcomed as a new member of the Board.  The minutes of the last meeting stood approved, and there were no public comments.



A.     Appointment of new trustee:  Ken Maurer was officially recognized in his appointment to IPDPL Board of Trustees.

B.     Hold on videos/DVDís:  The district sometimes loses patrons because of a ďno holdĒ policy on videos and DVDís.  Pugh moved that we change the library policy to allow reserving/holding videos and DVDís for patrons, 3 at a time per family.  Buhr seconded the motion and it passed.

C.     Staff evaluations:  Fredericksen is developing job descriptions that will be shown to the staff at the December 12 staff meeting.

D.     Beginning wage salary scale:  No progress at this time.

E.      Front door at Metamora:  Ken Ehrmann painted the front door, and has almost completed painting the entire front of the library.  The Board agreed that the library would reimburse him for his costs.

F.      Election:  The final filing period for submitting election petitions was moved to Wednesday, December 26th, from 2-5pm.

G.     Illinois Department of Labor citation:  The EXIT sign over the rear door at the Spring Bay Branch needed light bulbs replaced in order to meet safety regulations.  Fredericksen took care of it.

H.     Germantown Hills site:  Doug Pfeiffer of Dewberry sent a project schedule to Fredericksen.  The Board was pleased with the schedule and looks forward to moving ahead with the project.


Policy review was tabled.  Pugh moved to approve the bills and requisitions; Zoss

seconded and the motion passed.  In comments to guide future discussions, the subject came up and also discussion ensued of how both the Board and the Statute of IL Library Code handles a library secession, if such were ever pursued by an individual or group.

          The meeting adjourned at 4:48pm.  The next regular meeting will be January 8, 2013 at 4:00pm at the Metamora Branch and headquarters Library, in Metamora, IL.
